SIKA DEER HUNTING

HUNTING SEASON IN CZECH

Sika deer hunting season goes from August, 1st to January, 31st. The best time for Sika Deer hunt is October during the rut season. Our expert hunters consider also the period from the last week of november to January, a good period for sika deer hunt (stags get over rut season and move to the hunting grounds) while they advise against hunt soon after the end of root season (stags are hidden in the forests).

SIKA DEER POPULATION IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND OUR HUNTING GROUND

Sika Deer were introduced in Czech lands at the end of 1800. At the beginning, sika deers used to live only in fenced hunting areas. When, in 1930, fenced game preserve of Manetin (in the region of Pilsen) tumbled down they moved to open forests. Today the western part of Bohemia and north Moravia are the areas with a strong presence of sika deers. From these areas, sika deers are moving to the adjacent zones and its population is continuosly increasing (2000 sika deers in 1980, 11000 sika deers estimated in 2013). We can offer red deer hunting on the best hunting grounds we have selected in the aforementioned areas

The most common types of sika deer hunt during rut period are still hunt and deer-stalking. Out of the rut period, stalking prevails. Professional hunting guides with an excellent knowledge about hunting areas accompany our hunting guests. During one hunting season about 8000 sika deer are shot. The 10 highest CIC points sika deer trophies in the Czech republic vary from 242 to 294. The strongest sika red deer (294 CIC Points) was shot in western Bohemia in 1990. Of course, it is not a problem for us to offer our customers a medal sika deer trophy. We heartily recommend booking in advance, especially if your are interested in hunting during the rut season (preferably within June). Sika Deer hunt has a low rate of success, because this kind of deer is very secretive, elusive, quiet and very aware of its surroundings and it is also known for being tough to take down with a rifle.
